10 Days Mountain Gorilla Serengenti & Zanzibar Adventure Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe, Uganda

Welcome to Uganda! Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, a representative from Ikiya Primate Safaris will greet you and transfer you to your hotel for a restful evening. Overnight in a cozy lodge near Lake Victoria, with a welcome dinner and briefing about the journey ahead.

Day 2: Flight to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Take a domestic flight to southwestern Uganda and transfer to your lodge near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Nestled among emerald hills and misty forests, Bwindi is home to nearly half the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Settle in at a forest lodge and prepare for your gorilla trek the next day.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

After an early breakfast and safety briefing, venture into the forest with expert trackers to find a family of habituated gorillas. The trek can take 2 to 6 hours, depending on their location, but the reward is worth every step: one magical hour face-to-face with one of the world’s most endangered and majestic animals. Afterward, return to the lodge for relaxation or an optional visit to a local Batwa community.

Day 4: Transfer to Serengeti, Tanzania

Today you’ll fly from Bwindi to Tanzania via Entebbe and Arusha. On arrival, a bush flight takes you directly into the heart of the Serengeti National Park. Enjoy your first taste of the African savannah with an evening game drive en route to your luxury tented camp.

Days 5–6: Game Drives in Serengeti National Park

Spend two full days on thrilling game drives across the Serengeti’s vast plains. Your expert safari guide will help you search for the Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard—as well as cheetahs, giraffes, and massive herds of wildebeest and zebra.

If traveling between June and October, you may witness part of the Great Migration, one of the most spectacular wildlife events on Earth. After each day’s adventures, return to your camp for dinner under the stars and stories by the campfire.

Day 7: Fly to Zanzibar Island

After a final game drive, catch a flight to Zanzibar, the exotic Spice Island. Upon arrival, transfer to a beachfront resort on the island’s serene east coast. Spend the afternoon relaxing on the beach, taking in the island’s warm breezes and tranquil atmosphere.

Day 8: Spice Tour & Stone Town Visit

Take a guided Spice Tour through lush plantations where cloves, vanilla, nutmeg, and cinnamon grow. Learn about the island’s rich history as a trading post. In the afternoon, explore the historic streets of Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its Arab-Swahili architecture, markets, and vibrant culture.

Day 9: Beach Relaxation or Optional Activities

Enjoy your final full day at leisure in Zanzibar. Lounge on the beach, swim in crystal-clear waters, or choose from optional excursions like snorkeling, a dhow sailing trip, or a visit to Jozani Forest to see the red colobus monkey.

Day 10: Departure

Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy a final sunrise walk on the beach before transferring to Zanzibar Airport for your international departure or onward travel.
