Day-by-Day Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi or Arusha – Gateway to the Wild

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (Nairobi) or Kilimanjaro International Airport (Arusha) where your safari guide will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. Relax after your international flight and enjoy your first evening in East Africa.

Day 2: Fly to Serengeti or Masai Mara – Begin the Great Migration Safari

Take a scheduled light aircraft flight into the Serengeti National Park (Tanzania) or Masai Mara National Reserve (Kenya), depending on where the migration herds are located during your travel season. Your camp will be situated in a prime location near the migrating herds.

Upon arrival, embark on your first game drive across the sweeping savannahs. Expect to see vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle, closely followed by predators like lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and leopards.

Day 3: Full-Day Game Viewing – Follow the Migration

Spend a full day tracking the Great Migration, following the movement of the herds. Depending on the time of year, you may witness dramatic river crossings at the Mara River (July–October), calving season in the Southern Serengeti (January–March), or mass movement across the Grumeti region (May–June).

No two days are the same in the wild. Watch lions stalk prey, cheetahs chase gazelle, or elephants march through the plains. Your expert guide ensures you are always in the right place at the right time.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive – Fly to Entebbe, Uganda

Enjoy a final morning game drive as the sun rises over the plains. After brunch, transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Entebbe, Uganda via Nairobi or Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival, you’ll be met by your Ugandan guide and transferred to your hotel for a restful evening by the shores of Lake Victoria.

Day 5: Fly to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – Into the Gorilla Highlands

After an early breakfast, board a domestic flight to Kisoro or Kihihi Airstrip near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The scenic flight offers aerial views of Lake Victoria, Uganda’s highlands, and terraced hills.

Transfer by road through the picturesque Kigezi Highlands—often called the “Switzerland of Africa”—to your forest lodge. Settle in and prepare for the next day’s adventure.

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking – One of the World’s Greatest Wildlife Encounters

Today is the highlight of your safari—mountain gorilla trekking in the dense, misty rainforest of Bwindi. After a pre-trek briefing, enter the jungle with experienced guides and rangers. The trek may last anywhere from 2 to 6 hours depending on the gorilla family’s location.

Once you find them, spend a full hour watching these gentle giants interact—mothers nursing babies, young gorillas tumbling in play, and dominant silverbacks surveying their domain. It’s a life-changing experience that connects you deeply to nature and our shared ancestry.

After the trek, return to your lodge for relaxation or an optional visit to the Batwa pygmy community, where you’ll learn how Uganda’s forest people traditionally lived.

Day 7: Optional Forest Walk or Cultural Tour – Relaxation Day

Take today at your own pace. Enjoy an optional guided forest walk, birdwatching, or a community visit. Bwindi is home to over 350 bird species, and the surrounding villages offer a warm welcome to visitors interested in Ugandan culture, crafts, and food.

Alternatively, spend the day relaxing at your lodge, soaking in the mountain air and lush scenery.

Day 8: Fly Back to Entebbe – Sunset on Lake Victoria

After breakfast, transfer to the local airstrip for your return flight to Entebbe. Upon arrival, enjoy the afternoon at leisure or take an optional excursion such as a Lake Victoria boat cruise, Mabamba Swamp shoebill birding tour, or visit craft markets for souvenirs.

Celebrate your safari with a farewell dinner and toast to the unforgettable memories you’ve made.

Day 9: Departure – End of Safari Adventure
