Day 1: Arrival in Volcanoes National Park
Your journey begins with a scenic 2.5-hour drive from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park. En route, enjoy sweeping views of Rwanda’s “Land of a Thousand Hills,” dotted with terraced farms and picturesque villages. Upon arrival in the town of Musanze, check in at a luxury lodge or eco-friendly camp offering stunning views of the volcanic peaks.
Depending on your arrival time, you can visit the nearby Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, where you’ll interact with local communities, learn about traditional Rwandan customs, and witness energetic dance performances. Return to your lodge for a relaxed evening and prepare for the main highlight of your trip
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking Adventure
Start your day early with a hearty breakfast and transfer to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a detailed briefing by park rangers. You’ll be assigned to one of the habituated gorilla families and set off on a guided trek through bamboo forests, volcanic slopes, and lush vegetation. Trekking duration can range from 1 to 5 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements and your assigned group’s location.
