Depending on your arrival time, you may explore Entebbe Botanical Gardens, visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, or relax along the shores of Lake Victoria.
Overnight stay in Entebbe, as you prepare for your primate adventure.
Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest – Land of Chimpanzees
After an early breakfast, begin your journey to Kibale National Park, known as the “Primate Capital of the World.” The scenic drive (approx. 5–6 hours) winds through verdant countryside, tea plantations, and crater lakes near Fort Portal.
In the afternoon, take a guided walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run conservation area rich in birdlife and primates. Expect to see black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and colorful birds like the great blue turaco.
Overnight at a lodge near Kibale Forest.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking & Transfer to Bwindi
After an early breakfast, head into Kibale Forest for a chimpanzee tracking expedition. With over 1,500 individuals, this forest offers the best chance to observe wild chimps. The trek typically lasts 2–4 hours and includes one fascinating hour observing these energetic and intelligent primates in their natural habitat—feeding, grooming, and calling out in echoing whoops.
After lunch, depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This drive (approx. 6–7 hours) offers stunning views of the Kigezi Highlands, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa.” Arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight at your forest lodge.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
Today is the highlight of your safari—gorilla trekking in Bwindi’s ancient rainforest. After a morning briefing, set off in small groups with trained rangers to track a habituated mountain gorilla family. The trek can last from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the group’s location and terrain.
Once found, spend a magical one hour watching these gentle giants in their natural habitat—an awe-inspiring and humbling experience. After the trek, return to your lodge for a hot meal and optional massage or nature walk.
Overnight in Bwindi.
Day 5: Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park – Golden Monkey Trekking
After breakfast, transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, located in the Virunga Mountains. Though smaller than Bwindi, Mgahinga offers equally stunning views and is the only park in Uganda where golden monkeys and mountain gorillas coexist.
In the afternoon, enjoy a golden monkey trekking experience. These beautiful, endangered monkeys are known for their bright orange fur and energetic movements. The trek is less strenuous than gorilla tracking and equally rewarding.
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight with the Virunga Volcanoes in the backdrop.
Day 6: Lake Bunyonyi – Relaxation & Canoe Ride
After a relaxed breakfast, take a scenic drive to Lake Bunyonyi, one of Africa’s most beautiful and tranquil lakes. Dotted with over 25 islands and surrounded by terraced hills, Bunyonyi offers a perfect place to unwind after days of trekking.
Spend the afternoon on a traditional dugout canoe ride, visiting islands like Punishment Island, learning local legends, and spotting birds. You may also enjoy swimming (the lake is bilharzia-free), hiking, or simply relaxing by the lakeside.
Overnight at a lakeside resort or eco-lodge.
Day 7: Return to Entebbe & Departure
After breakfast, begin your return journey to Entebbe, stopping en route for lunch and photos at the Equator crossing—a great spot for souvenirs and a memorable snapshot. Arrive in the evening in time for your international flight, concluding your unforgettable primate safari
