4 days Uganda Safari – Gorillas, Lions & Chimpanzees Adventure Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest – Chimpanzee Tracking
Your safari begins with an early morning departure from Kampala or Entebbe to Kibale Forest National Park, a lush tropical rainforest known as the “Primate Capital of East Africa.” The drive offers scenic views of rural villages, banana plantations, and verdant tea estates.
Upon arrival, you’ll head to the park headquarters for a chimpanzee tracking experience. Accompanied by trained Uganda Wildlife Authority guides, trek into the forest to locate one of the habituated chimpanzee communities. Watch as these intelligent primates forage, socialize, and swing through the canopy. Kibale is also home to over 12 primate species and a variety of birds and butterflies, making it a biodiversity hotspot. Overnight stay near Kibale.
Day 2: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Game Drive & Transfer to Buhoma
After breakfast, depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most diverse wildlife parks. Embark on a game drive through the Kasenyi Plains, where you may encounter elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, hyenas, and perhaps even a lion on the prowl.
Continue through the park’s Ishasha Sector, famed for its rare tree-climbing lions, often seen resting in fig trees during the heat of the day. Enjoy a scenic drive with a chance to spot more game before heading southwest to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, arriving in the Buhoma sector, the northern gateway to gorilla trekking. Check into your lodge, nestled at the edge of the forest, and rest up for tomorrow’s adventure.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi – A Once-in-a-Lifetime Encounter
After an early breakfast, report to the Buhoma Park Headquarters for a briefing before starting your gorilla trekking adventure. You’ll be assigned to one of the habituated gorilla families and led by expert trackers through dense forest trails. The trek can last from a few hours to most of the day depending on the location of the gorillas, but the reward is immense.
Spending one precious hour in the presence of mountain gorillas is one of Africa’s most profound wildlife experiences. Watch them feed, play, and interact, just a few meters away. After the trek, return to your lodge for a well-deserved rest and a celebratory evening.
Day 4: Transfer Back to Kampala/Entebbe
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before starting your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe, passing through scenic highlands and vibrant towns. Arrive in the evening, marking the end of an exhilarating and emotional journey through Uganda’s wild heart
