5-Days African Tour - Gorilla Trekking & Wildlife Safari itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe – Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Your safari begins with a warm welcome at Entebbe International Airport or from your hotel in Kampala. After a short briefing, embark on a scenic drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most diverse ecosystems, teeming with wildlife and framed by the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains.

Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of rural villages, banana plantations, and rolling hills. Stop for lunch en route before arriving at your lodge in or near the park. Settle in, relax, and prepare for your first wildlife experience the following day.

Day 2: Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Boat Safari

Start the day early with a morning game drive through the Kasenyi Plains, a region rich in wildlife including lions, elephants, buffalo, Uganda kob, and warthogs. With luck, you might even spot a leopard or hyena. The golden light of morning makes this an ideal time for wildlife photography.

Return to the lodge for breakfast and relaxation, then head out in the afternoon for a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway linking Lake Edward and Lake George. This cruise offers close-up views of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and a spectacular variety of birdlife, such as African fish eagles and pied kingfishers.

Return to your lodge for dinner and a peaceful evening under the stars.

Day 3: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Ishasha Sector

After breakfast, begin your drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, taking the scenic route through the Ishasha sector, which is famous for its tree-climbing lions. Keep your eyes on the trees—you might spot these unique predators lounging in the branches of fig trees.

Enjoy a picnic lunch en route and continue your journey to Bwindi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to nearly half of the world’s mountain gorilla population. Arrive in the late afternoon and check in to your forest lodge. Spend the evening relaxing and preparing for the next day’s gorilla trek.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

Rise early for a short transfer to the park headquarters, where you’ll receive a briefing on gorilla trekking etiquette and safety. You’ll then be assigned to a gorilla family and guided by expert trackers into the dense forest. The trek can take between 2 to 6 hours depending on the group’s location.

Once found, spend a magical hour observing the gorillas in their natural habitat—watching them play, feed, and interact just meters away. It’s an awe-inspiring and deeply personal wildlife experience that few places on Earth can offer.

Return to the lodge for lunch and a well-deserved rest, or opt for an optional community visit to interact with local people and learn about their culture.

Day 5: Return to Entebbe or Kampala

After breakfast, begin your return journey to Entebbe or Kampala, passing through Uganda’s beautiful highland landscapes and stopping for lunch en route. You’ll arrive in the late afternoon or evening, marking the end of your incredible wildlife adventure

This 5-day safari offers the perfect combination of classic African wildlife and rare primate encounters, all set against Uganda’s stunning natural backdrop
