Welcome to our Queen Elizabeth National Park tours, where your dream African safari becomes a breathtaking reality. As one of Uganda’s most celebrated national parks, Queen Elizabeth National Park offers unmatched biodiversity, spectacular landscapes, and unique experiences that cater to wildlife enthusiasts, nature lovers, photographers, and adventure seekers alike. At Go Gorilla Tracking, we specialize in crafting personalized, immersive tours that bring the magic of this extraordinary park to life.

Why Choose Queen Elizabeth National Park?

Nestled in the western part of Uganda, Queen Elizabeth National Park is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve covering approximately 1,978 square kilometers. It stretches from Lake George in the northeast to Lake Edward in the southwest, connected by the Kazinga Channel—a haven for hippos, crocodiles, and aquatic birds. The park’s varied ecosystems include savannah, rainforest, wetlands, crater lakes, and volcanic features, making it one of the most ecologically diverse places in Africa.

What sets this park apart is the rich mix of flora and fauna. It is home to over 95 species of mammals—including elephants, leopards, buffaloes, hyenas, and the famous tree-climbing lions of Ishasha—as well as more than 600 bird species, making it a paradise for birders

Our Tour Experiences

At Go Gorilla Tracking, we offer several tour packages that range from short 2-day visits to extended 5–7 day safari adventures. All our tours are led by experienced guides and can be customized to suit solo travelers, couples, families, or small groups.

1. Game Drives

Your adventure begins with early morning or evening game drives across the park’s scenic savannahs. The Kasenyi Plains, in particular, are teeming with wildlife and offer some of the best opportunities to see big game. Our 4×4 safari vehicles are specially designed for comfort and optimal wildlife viewing. Expect to spot elephants grazing, Uganda kobs in the open plains, buffaloes moving in large herds, and the elusive leopards on the prowl.

2. Ishasha Tree-Climbing Lions

One of the highlights of Queen Elizabeth National Park is the rare sight of lions lounging in fig trees in the Ishasha sector, found in the southern part of the park. This behavior is observed in very few places globally and is a must-see for anyone visiting the park. Our expert guides take you off the beaten path to catch a glimpse of these majestic cats in their unusual resting spots.

3. Kazinga Channel Boat Safari

This two-hour boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel is often a guest favorite. As you glide quietly through the water, you’ll see hundreds of hippos bathing, crocodiles sunning themselves on the banks, and elephants coming down for a drink. The channel is also a hotspot for birdlife, including African fish eagles, kingfishers, herons, and saddle-billed storks. Our boat safaris offer excellent opportunities for close-up photography and peaceful wildlife observation.

4. Chimpanzee Tracking in Kyambura Gorge

The dramatic Kyambura Gorge, also known as the “Valley of Apes,” lies on the eastern side of the park and offers a completely different experience. Trek into the lush forest in search of a small community of habituated chimpanzees. Along the way, you’ll encounter other primates like black-and-white colobus monkeys and red-tailed monkeys, as well as rich birdlife. Our guided treks emphasize conservation, education, and responsible tourism.

5. Bird Watching Tours

With over 600 bird species recorded, Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of Africa’s premier birding destinations. Our birding tours are tailored for both amateur and experienced birders. Explore diverse habitats such as the Maramagambo Forest, Mweya Peninsula, and Lake Munyanyange to spot species like the African skimmer, pink-backed pelican, and the rare shoebill stork.

6. Cultural Experiences

No visit to Queen Elizabeth National Park is complete without engaging with the vibrant local cultures. Our cultural tours include visits to local communities where you can enjoy traditional dances, learn about salt mining at Lake Katwe, or participate in local craft workshops. These experiences provide meaningful connections and support community-based tourism.

Accommodation Options

We partner with a wide range of lodges and camps to provide accommodations that suit every taste and budget:

  • Luxury: Lodges like Kyambura Gorge Lodge and Ishasha Wilderness Camp offer high-end amenities, gourmet meals, and stunning views.

  • Mid-range: Comfortable, eco-friendly lodges such as Enganzi Game Lodge provide a balanced blend of comfort and affordability.

  • Budget: For backpackers and budget-conscious travelers, options like Simba Safari Camp offer basic yet cozy lodging with easy access to key attractions.

All our tour packages include full-board accommodation, ensuring you enjoy hearty local and international meals in a relaxed setting

When to Visit

The park is a year-round destination, but the best times to visit are during the dry seasons: June to September and December to February. During these months, wildlife is more concentrated around water sources, making animals easier to spot. However, the wet seasons (March to May and October to November) bring lush scenery and fewer tourists—ideal for photography and quiet exploration.

Getting There

Queen Elizabeth National Park is accessible by both road and air. By road, it’s about a 6–8 hour drive from Kampala or Entebbe. For those on a tighter schedule, we can arrange domestic flights from Entebbe to Kasese or Mweya airstrips, followed by short transfers to your lodge.
