Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe – Welcome to Uganda

Your adventure begins in Entebbe, Uganda, where you will be met by your guide and transferred to a comfortable lodge such as Hotel No.5, The Boma, or Protea Hotel Entebbe. Take time to rest after your journey or explore the town, visit the Entebbe Botanical Gardens, or enjoy a sunset cruise on Lake Victoria.

Overnight in Entebbe with dinner and a safari briefing to prepare for your cross-country journey.

Day 2: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. The journey takes you through beautiful Ugandan countryside—rolling hills, banana plantations, and rural villages. You can choose to fly to Kihihi/Kisoro airstrip or drive for 8–9 hours depending on your itinerary preference.

Upon arrival, check in at a luxury forest lodge such as Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp, Buhoma Lodge, or Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge. Spend the afternoon relaxing and enjoying the cool mountain air.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi – A Life-Changing Experience

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. Led by experienced rangers and trackers, you will trek through the dense rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek may last from 2 to 6 hours depending on their location, but the reward is truly unforgettable.

Once found, spend one awe-inspiring hour watching the gorillas in their natural habitat. Witness their social interactions, observe their gentle nature, and take in the magical atmosphere of the forest.

Return to the lodge for a hot meal and optional spa treatment or nature walk in the afternoon.

Day 4: Cultural Visit and Cross to Rwanda – Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, enjoy a community visit to a Batwa pygmy village, where you’ll learn about their traditional forest life, music, and storytelling. Afterwards, begin your scenic drive to the Uganda-Rwanda border at Cyanika or Katuna.

Cross into Rwanda and continue to Volcanoes National Park, home to Rwanda’s own population of mountain gorillas. The landscape here is dramatic, with lush green volcanoes rising into the sky. Check in to your luxury lodge such as Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge, Bisate Lodge, or Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast, proceed to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. Rwanda offers well-organized, efficient trekking experiences with small group sizes. Your guide will lead you through bamboo forests and hilly terrain until you find the gorillas.

Enjoy an hour of intimate observation, then descend and return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, consider visiting the Dian Fossey Research Center (optional) or enjoy a nature walk around your lodge.

Day 6: Iby’Iwacu Cultural Visit and Twin Lakes Exploration

Spend the day exploring Rwandan culture and landscapes. Visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, a community-run experience that highlights traditional Rwandan dance, medicine, and local lifestyles. You may also hike to the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo, where stunning volcanic scenery meets tranquil water reflections.

This day is a more relaxed cultural and scenic interlude between two gorilla treks. Return to the lodge for a peaceful evening.

Day 7: Transfer to Kigali – City Tour and Genocide Memorial

After breakfast, transfer to Kigali, Rwanda’s clean and cosmopolitan capital city. On arrival, enjoy a guided city tour including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, the Kimironko Market, and local artisan shops. Kigali offers insight into Rwanda’s past, resilience, and remarkable progress.

Check in at a top hotel such as The Retreat, Heaven Boutique Hotel, or Kigali Serena Hotel for your final night in Africa.

Day 8: Departure

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight. Depending on your schedule, optional visits or last-minute shopping can be arranged.
