5-Days Gorilla Fly-In Safari & Cultural Tour – Uganda Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe – Fly to Bwindi

Your adventure begins in Entebbe, where you’ll be greeted by a representative who will assist you with a domestic flight to either Kisoro (for the southern Bwindi sectors) or Kihihi (for northern sectors). Enjoy spectacular aerial views of Uganda’s rolling hills, forests, and crater lakes.

Upon arrival, transfer by 4×4 to your comfortable lodge near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Spend the afternoon at leisure, soaking in views of the misty forest and listening to the sounds of nature. Dinner is served with a warm welcome and a briefing for the next day’s trekking adventure.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Wake early for breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters for a detailed gorilla trekking briefing. You’ll be assigned to one of the habituated mountain gorilla families and then set out with trained guides and trackers into the jungle.

The trek can last from 2 to 6 hours depending on the gorillas’ movements, but the reward is immense. Once you find the family, spend one magical hour observing them—watching the young play, mothers feed their infants, and silverbacks protect the group.

Return to your lodge for lunch and a well-earned rest. In the evening, enjoy a quiet moment of reflection or a fireside chat under the stars.

Day 3: Community Tour – Batwa Visit & Local Life

Today, step into the lives of the communities that live alongside the forest. Your community tour includes a visit to a Batwa pygmy settlement, where you’ll learn about their traditional forest-based lifestyle, music, dance, and crafts.

Continue to meet local artisans, visit schools or clinics supported by tourism, and see how community conservation plays a role in protecting the gorillas. This day fosters a meaningful connection between visitors and the people who call Bwindi home.

Return to the lodge for a traditional meal and storytelling session with local guides.

Day 4: Transfer to Lake Mutanda – Canoe Ride & Relaxation

After breakfast, enjoy a scenic drive to Lake Mutanda, a serene and stunning highland lake near Kisoro. Nestled among volcanoes and surrounded by green hills, Lake Mutanda offers a perfect post-trekking retreat.

Check into a lakeside eco-lodge and spend the afternoon on a canoe ride, exploring the lake’s islands and birdlife. You may also choose to swim (in bilharzia-free waters), go birding, or simply unwind with a drink while watching the sunset.

Day 5: Return Flight to Entebbe – Departure

After a leisurely breakfast overlooking the lake, transfer to Kisoro Airstrip for your domestic flight back to Entebbe. Depending on your international flight schedule, you may connect the same day or choose to overnight in Entebbe

This 5-day safari offers the perfect balance of adventure, culture, and relaxation—ideal for travelers looking to experience Uganda’s natural wonders and rich community heritage in comfort
