3 Days Budget Gorilla Trek Uganda Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Your journey begins with an early morning pickup from Kampala or Entebbe, followed by a scenic road trip to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, located in southwestern Uganda. The drive, though long (approximately 8–10 hours), is packed with spectacular views of rolling hills, rural villages, and lush countryside. Stopovers are made along the way for meals and photo opportunities.
Arrive in the late afternoon and check into a budget-friendly lodge or guesthouse, such as Rushaga Gorilla Haven Lodge or Broadbill Forest Camp. These accommodations offer basic but comfortable amenities, warm hospitality, and stunning views of the forest. Settle in and prepare for the next day’s trekking adventure.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You’ll be grouped based on fitness level and assigned to one of the habituated gorilla families. Trekking through the dense forest can take anywhere from 1 to 6 hours depending on the gorillas’ location.
Once you locate them, spend a magical one hour in their company. Watch them feed, play, and interact in their natural habitat—a humbling and unforgettable experience. The hike may be challenging, but the reward of seeing mountain gorillas up close is beyond compare.
Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the evening, you can opt for a community walk to meet locals or visit a Batwa pygmy village to learn about their traditional forest life.
Day 3: Return to Kampala/Entebbe
After breakfast, begin your return journey to Kampala or Entebbe, arriving in the evening. Optional stops can be made at the Equator line for photos and souvenirs
