Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Your journey begins in Kigali, Rwanda’s vibrant capital. After an early pick-up, enjoy a scenic drive southwest toward the Cyanika Border, crossing into Uganda. The journey takes approximately 4–5 hours and offers stunning views of rolling hills, terraced farms, and the dramatic Virunga Volcanoes.
Upon arrival in Kisoro, the gateway town to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, you’ll proceed to your lodge for check-in and lunch. The afternoon is at leisure—relax with views of the misty mountains or opt for a short cultural visit to the nearby Batwa community, an indigenous group with deep ties to the forest.
Dinner and overnight at a comfortable lodge near the park.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga – Return to Kigali
After an early breakfast, head to the Ntebeko Visitor Center for a pre-trek briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You’ll be assigned to one of the habituated gorilla families—most often the Nyakagezi group, known for its playful juveniles and photogenic silverbacks.
The trek takes you through bamboo forests, montane woodlands, and volcanic foothills. Tracking can take between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. Once you find them, spend an awe-inspiring hour observing their behavior up close—a humbling and unforgettable wildlife experience.
After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and freshen up. You’ll then begin your return drive to Kigali, arriving in the evening
