13 Days Kenya–Uganda Safari Adventure  Day-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi, Kenya

Welcome to Nairobi! Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you’ll be met by your safari guide and transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you can explore the Giraffe Centre, David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, or enjoy a welcome dinner in the city.

Day 2–4: Masai Mara National Reserve – Classic African Safari

After breakfast, depart for the legendary Masai Mara National Reserve, one of Africa’s top wildlife destinations. Enjoy a scenic drive through the Great Rift Valley, arriving at the Mara in time for an afternoon game drive.

Spend the next two days exploring the open plains in search of the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino—as well as cheetahs, giraffes, and abundant antelope species. If traveling between July and October, you might witness the spectacular Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest and zebras cross the Mara River.

Optional: Add a hot air balloon safari for a bird’s-eye view of the morning savannah followed by a champagne breakfast.

Day 5: Lake Naivasha – Scenic Escape and Walking Safari

After breakfast, drive to Lake Naivasha, a peaceful freshwater lake set in Kenya’s Rift Valley. Enjoy a relaxing boat ride among hippos and birds, then take a guided walking safari on Crescent Island—home to zebras, giraffes, and gazelles—with no predators, making it a rare place to walk freely among wild animals.

Relax in the afternoon at your lakeside lodge or take part in optional activities such as biking in nearby Hell’s Gate National Park.

Day 6: Return to Nairobi – Urban and Cultural Encounters

Travel back to Nairobi, where you’ll explore more of the city. Depending on your preferences and time, you may visit the Karen Blixen Museum, local markets, or the National Museum. Enjoy a farewell dinner in Kenya, preparing for the next leg of your safari in Uganda.

Day 7: Flight from Nairobi to Uganda – Local Flight to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, take a morning flight from Nairobi to Entebbe, Uganda, where you’ll be welcomed by your local guide. From Entebbe, board a scenic domestic flight to the airstrip near Queen Elizabeth National Park. As you descend, take in views of crater lakes, rolling hills, and the distant Rwenzori Mountains. Upon arrival, transfer to your safari lodge and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure, surrounded by the park’s breathtaking landscapes and rich wildlife.

Day 8: Safari and Boat Cruise – Queen Elizabeth National Park

Start the day with a game drive on the Kasenyi Plains, where Uganda kobs attract predators such as lions and leopards. In the afternoon, take a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, a highlight of the park. This waterway teems with hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and hundreds of bird species—including African fish eagles and kingfishers.

Return to your lodge for a relaxing evening under the African sky.

Day 9: Scenic Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After breakfast, set off on a scenic drive southward to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the last refuges of the endangered mountain gorilla. The journey offers stunning views of Uganda’s diverse countryside, with rolling hills blanketed in tea plantations, misty valleys, and vibrant rural villages. Arrive in the Buhoma sector of Bwindi by afternoon, where you’ll check in at your lodge nestled on the forest edge. Spend the rest of the day unwinding and getting ready for the next day’s unforgettable gorilla trekking experience.

Day 10: Gorilla Trekking – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Today marks the highlight of your safari—an unforgettable gorilla trekking experience in the heart of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a detailed briefing by expert rangers. Then, set off on foot through the dense, mist-covered jungle in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family. The trek can last anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorillas, and may involve navigating steep and thick terrain. But the reward is profound: spending one magical hour observing these gentle giants up close in their natural habitat is an awe-inspiring and deeply moving encounter.

After the trek, return to your lodge to rest and reflect on this extraordinary experience, followed by a well-earned celebratory dinner.

Day 11: Journey to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, begin your journey eastward to Lake Mburo National Park, a compact but scenic park known for its open savannah, acacia woodlands, and rich wildlife. Unlike many Ugandan parks, Lake Mburo is home to large populations of zebras, impalas, elands, and other plains game, making it a unique stop on your safari. Upon arrival, enjoy an afternoon game drive through the rolling hills, or opt for a tranquil boat ride on Lake Mburo to spot hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, and a variety of birdlife along the shoreline.

Day 12: Walking Safari & Return to Entebbe

Begin your day with a refreshing guided walking safari, offering a rare chance to experience the African bush on foot. Accompanied by an expert ranger, quietly track zebras, warthogs, topis, and more—an intimate and peaceful way to connect with the wild.

After the walk, begin your return drive to Entebbe, passing through the rolling countryside and crossing the equator, where you’ll stop for iconic photos and a chance to browse local crafts. Arrive in Entebbe by evening and settle in for your final night in Uganda.

Day 13: Departure

Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy a leisurely morning in Entebbe. You may choose to visit the local botanical gardens, relax by the lake, or simply unwind at your hotel before your transfer to Entebbe International Airport.
