1 Day Gorilla Trekking Itinerary
Your journey begins before sunrise with a scenic drive through the rolling hills of the Kigezi Highlands, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa.” Upon arrival at the park headquarters, you’ll attend a briefing led by expert rangers who guide you on gorilla trekking etiquette and safety. You’ll then head into the dense rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family.
The trek can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours depending on the gorillas’ location, but every step is worth it. Once you encounter these gentle giants, you’ll spend a magical hour observing their behavior—watching them feed, groom, and interact in their natural habitat. This rare wildlife encounter is truly unforgettable and a highlight of any Uganda safari.
After the trek, you’ll return to the starting point, receive your trekking certificate, and drive back to Kabale, arriving in the evening.
